Reading the report at the end of this thread: A security feature was disabled without the Aero/Velo team's knowledge that should have prevent this attack AND an employee at a partner of the DNS provider was compromised to carry out the attack. Honestly not sure what could have been done differently by the team besides using a different provider (they are switching after this incident). Good response by many teams involved to mitigate!
On November 21st, the centralized domains of both Velodrome and Aerodrome were hijacked and directed to malicious content. This attack was caught and mitigated quickly with the support of our security partners — and a plan for how to move forward is now ready. 👇
