In 1999, the American magazine "Physics World" sent a questionnaire to 250 renowned physicists around the world to select the "5 physicists who made the most significant contributions" (it was not specified whether it was of all time, the 20th century, or those still alive, so some did not choose Newton or Einstein). They received 130 responses, and 61 physicists were selected, with 11 still alive at the time. Yang Zhenning only received one vote (was it from himself or another Chinese physicist?).
